Credit Card - 0% interest for 12 months and free balance transfer??

Hi Guys.

My friend is looking to transfer her current balance as her 0% runs out on Dec 27th. Ideally she is looking for a free balance transfer and 0% interest for 12months.

Who is offering those deals at present. Any good ones/ones to avoid??

She and her husband own thier own home. They both work but she is currently on maternity leave.

Thanks in advance

As Im aware there are no 'free' transfers, havent been for a couple of years now. There will always be an 'admin fee' in the small print of around 2-3%.

Virgin/MBNA have consistently offered the longest 0% BT deals, there others as well (see best BT cards on this site). There are none at the moment with free balance transfer, so you might want to go with a BT card that has the least transfer fee.

If the present deal runs out on the 27th, then I am afraid that you might have not given yourself enough time to setup a new card and arrange transfer to avoid interest.

Tesco. Easy to get as well. Virgin also very easy.

Free transfers are very unusual these but Tesco CC did one for me 2-3 months ago. I am an existing customer who hadn't used his account for some time.
The free transfers were 6.9% LOB I think (a pretty good deal these days) but the 0% for six months deal they were offering did have a fee attached.

An easy Virgin? One to ponder I suppose.

My car is half on a Tesco and half on a Virgin card for those very reasons.

I've had the Virgin card for over a year and have now BT'd to the Post Office. 2.98% fee for 12 months. Once it's all gone through (and I see the statements) I'll close the Virgin card just in case it's still available at the end of next year to transfer back.

Like others have said there isn't any free card at the moment.
