wellies for someone with LARGE calfs

  • I have Hunter Huntress wellies and they fit me well. I had standard Hunters to begin with but couldn't get them on comfortably. Huntress have a slightly shorter leg so don't dig into the back of your knee and they allow for a larger calf.

Been wearing mine for dog walking for 2 years and they're very comfy.

I was going to say pretty much exactly the same thing!
After struggling to find wellies and ruining cheap ones quickly (I work in a Kennels so I wear them pretty much every day) I decided to bite the bullet and get some hunters. Although they seem quite pricey there are lots of good deals around on the internet.

I love my Huntress wellies :D

I was just going to suggest the Huntress ones myself.

    Sense is not common.
  • I don't rate either the Hunter wellies (since they moved manufacture from the UK to China the quality isn't as good) or the Muck Boots. Of those I've seen, many seem to split where the neoprene meets the rubber.

I've recently bought a pair of Ariat Mudbusters. They were expensive @ £50, but are worth their weight. They're neoprene lined so lovely and warm. They have adjustable straps on the sides (my legs positively swim in them) and they are sturdy and well made. I wear mine every day without fail during the Autumn and Winter (I've got horses) and so far they've been excellent. Ariat are an excellent brand for footwear - I won't wear anything else whilst out and about in the countryside (either with the horses or walking the boots). I own (say it quietly) 6 pairs of boots made by them, ranging from wellies to cowboy boots to riding boots and all are superb.

Hunter Huntress wellies are designed for wider calfs if your pockets are deep enough.
