Cheapest way to accept online payments

The business does not have a high volume of transactions, and generally it will be for mail order sales with a cost of £30-£100, although if it is efficient we may start using it for larger sums that aren't strictly online sales too.

Not sue what your Hubby's business is, but wouldn't a simple shopping cart or billing software be more sutiable and which can be configured for online and offline use .

I understand that paypal merchant accounts are expensive so what are the alternatives?

We are thinking of changing the business bank account at the moment anyway so if this makes a difference we can choose the account based on online payment services.

Banks online charging is expensive. worldpay is pretty good tbh as well.

Look at paypal's standard account and also worldpay .. look into paypoint as well :P

As we don't know what your Hubby is selling I don't think we will be able provide a good enough answer untill you do give us a better indication.
