Scottish Power Bill?

I recently moved house and rang all my suppliers to provide them with my last meter readings before i left. I have always been on a prepay meter and have always payed all along

However i am now in my new house and they have billed me £35 for electricity at old address and Another £28 gas bill.
I rang them today and she said "oh its probably an estimated meter reading bill".

I explained i had sent in my exact readings and she couldnt tell me why i had been billed or what the bill is for exactly. So shes looking into it. But the letter says that if i dont pay they will pass it onto debt collection company.

Has anyone else had this problem?? And what could i possibly be paying for?? Thanks for listening to my rants lol :D

  • If it is a prepay meter, you could have been underpaying. Do the bills tie in with your readings?

    Hi SkintBrideToBe

If you have not already done so, contact us and request that your account is placed into dispute so that the debt action is stopped while we investigate the outstanding balance. If they are unable to give you an answer to where the outstanding balance has come from, you will be provided with a complaint reference number and advised that we will contact you within 5 working days.

Let me know if you need any further help.

    Kind Regards

  • Hi there, it was the kind of meter that if u dont put money on your key and then into the meter then your electricity would cut off. So u see i could only use what i was paying for. THats why i dont know where the bills could come from.
The girl on the phone said she was putting the bill on hold until she could get me an answer to why i have the bill.
    THanks for your replies

Hi Skint Bride To Be - From your post it appears that the final bill demand from Scot. Power is just a letter giving the amount. You are entitled to detailed bills showing the dates for which the charges are being made, the open and closing meter readings, and the pricing details.- It's good that you have your closing meter readings to check the detailed bills when you get them
Write to Scot Power, heading the letter Complaint, reminding them that it is their duty to provide a fully detailed bill, and you cannot pay the sums demanded until such time as they supply detailed bills
    Good Luck

    Hi SkintBrideToBe

As you obviously have internet access I would send an email to use title complaint. See our complaints procedure using the link below. The email address is shown at Stage 1.

    http://www.scottishpower.co.uk/Home_Energy/Customer_Services/Making_a_complaint/

This way you will be able to keep a track of what you send us and vice versa.

Like dogshome states, we can send you a copy of your bills no problem. These will show exactly the meter readings used and the relevant charges.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind Regards
