Hello
when we moved into this house some years ago there was an alarm system - and every year they have come and serviced the alarm -- got to thinking yesterday was some time since the last service -- so i rang yesterday - to book a service to be told the company wont be doing any more services as in administration ...
My question is can i now just get any company ( from the yellow pages )to service my alarm ? its not a monitored system and its working fine but i would like it done any thoughts ?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it - apart from batteries, which last years, they don't really need servicing, (unless you are getting an insurance discount based on it)
Yes you can use anyone.
Exactly correct. It money for a meaningless tick list on a sheet of paper.
New battery every 3 to 4 years, 2 minute job, cost about £10.
As an electronics engineer I would like to have just one alarm service just to follow them around and see what they claim to be doing!0 -
Batteries were £10 but nearer £25 in Maplins, having "serviced" my alarm system last month. Nothing to do, so leave it alone.
PS Cancel the direct debit.0 -

Yes Maplins have gone a bit steep. I usually get from CPC, still have some in the £9-£16 area inc VAT, CPC shipping can be steep but I am usually ordering enough to qualify for free delivery anyway.0 -
