energy smart 2011
Hi I am just off the phone to british gas after receiving a letter telling me that after the end of my price guarantee December 2009 I will automatically be transferrred over to their energy smart tariff. I don't have to do anything, however this is not their cheapest tariff. I called today and asked to be transferred to websaver 5 at the end of my current tariff and was told they could not do this, I would have to return the form to say I did not want the energysmart tariff however on the form it says please transfer me to your standard tariff if I don't accept the energysmart tariff. I told the Customer service girl that I would go through an energy switch company and she said that would take 4 to 6 weeks which is a different timescale they quoted a month ago when the C.S. girl told me if I changed then I would incur a cancellation charge and to wait until the 31 st December. Any advice here would be appreciated.
Does anyone know if it will be cheaper for me to not do anything at this stage and change to websaver 5 through one of the energy switching co and pay the cancellation for energy smart which is £30 for gas and electricity as this may work out cheaper than going on to their standard tariff for the switch period bearing in mind it is winter... thanks shrewdal

If I were you I'd agree to switch to a tarrif with energy smart that does not have a tie in, Online saver maybe. That way you'll get the energy monitor.
Then if unhappy switch to websaver or someone else.
Or back to plan A and switch straight away. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Hi I thought I would let you know that I have noted on my energy account with british gas that I want to transfer to websaver5 on 1st January as this is coming up the cheapest for me. Does anyone have a link to the tariff charges for this as I can't find it on the british gas website thanks shrewdalx0
