Remember the Swan Slow cooker from LX direct?

I bought one of these and am now a slow cooker convert ..BUT mine has already let me down and I've now got two questions:
1) Has anyone else had trouble with theirs? First of all the knob fell off the lid and had to be fixed by my DH. Then, when I was cooking strawberries in it (to make jam) on Saturday, I could smell burning...on investigation, liquid was seeping out of the bottom into the slow cooker itself. After close scrutiny, found a hairline crack in the base:eek: . Now I KNOW I haven't droped, it, bashed it or even put it in the dishwasher - as I love it so much I looked after it better than the kids
...Turns out I was wasting my time with the jam anyway, because the darned jam thermometer broke while in the jam and as broken glass isn't high on my list of healthy foods, I ended up throwing the whole lot away    Anyway I phone LX Direct - they want me to send it back and they will "look" at it - but since I can't prove I didn't crack it, I have a sneaky feeling I'll just end up out of pocket with the postage and still have no slow cooker...so.........
2) What model should I replace it with please?

What bad luck. I had a similar experience with my first slo cooker too although I am a bit heavy handed chucking things in the dishwasher!
There are two things you are always guarenteed to be ablt to pick up at the car boots.
1 - Heated Rollers
2 - Slo Cookers
I would never buy one brand new cos you can have your pick at the car boot for a couple of quid. I got a programable Delonghi for £4 last summer and while rooting about at the weekend saw at least 8 all different sizes and models.Life's a beach! I've got a morphy richards 6lt big jobbie - I got it from Amazon for around £30 last year and although the pot cracked - just as yours has, and the knob broke on the lid, they replaced it all within 3 working days.....I can't fault their customer service at all."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Uhmmmm I had EXACTLY the same problems!!! First the lid knob came off and i had to super glue it back on (their return prcess was a nightmare!) and then the base cracked all the way round about 1cm up from the bottom and basically came away from the top half... I called and complained in no uncertain terms and got a replacement sent out and old one was collected... so if they claim they have never heard of the problem before tell them they're lying!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Ooh that happened to me as well. The lid knob fell off after the first time I used it. I also carried on rather than bother with their long winded return/refund process. No cracks in the base yet though (fingers crossed).:smileyhea0

Meanwhile will have a look on our local freecycle - might find one on there if I'm lucky....have trouble getting to local boot sale as DD2 has got a weekend job to save for university and it's not on a bus route, so I get to be taxi driver....kids huh?:oPeople Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading
