Help with new iphone

Hi all, girlfriend came home tonight with a new works mobile. She was given an Iphone 3g. Gave me the box and told me to set it up for her. Connected it up to itunes and followed instructions about putting her details in but then it said enter Iphone number??

Its got an O2 sim card in it but i dont know the number and when i look at the Ipnone it says No Service.

Am i missing something?

Please help

Many thanks

If it's a company phone they usually transfer the number from the old phone to the new one, so until the transfer is completed, the new phone will have no signal.
  • Yes sounds like its not active yet, normally the o2 sim comes on a credit card, the rest of the details, i.e. number are on the credit card bit that you break the sim off.

Otherwise, if its not a company one call o2 and they'll talk you through getting the number.
  • It sounds to me like the sim card hasn't yet been registered which is the first thing that needs doing. They're not totally straightforward to set up - I got one about a month ago.

    1. Call O2 to register the sim.

    2. Set it up with iTunes.

    3. Set up the Wifi on it.

That's kinda all I can remember but hope it helps.
