2nd ipod broken - shall I give up?

Hi all, My 2nd ipod has just died after less than 2 years. While I like the ease of use and vast memory of ipods, I am fed up with what seems to me to be their short life and high cost. I mainly use it in the house, for music. Can anyone advise whether I should risk another, buy a smaller one eg a nano, or go elsewhere eg…

Perhaps this might interest you.

Not white, not Apple, not fancy, but £10 for an 8gb hitachi mp3 player with graphical display - who cares if it breaks in a year or 2.
Alternatively the 8gb Zen is £15 (though the Zens will be harder to find)
