Just recently I ordered a dvd from lovefilm that was on a reduced price, a few days later I get an email from them saying that they have run out of this DVD at the reduced price and the order has been cancelled. And if I wish to purchase it I can do but have to pay the normal price (twice as much).
So, in other words, they havent run out of the DVD, but just wont sell it at the advertised price, all rather poor.

I'm not going to pursue it, as frankly its not worth the bother, and certainly wouldnt use the comapny again, but I vaguely remember from my retail days that you can refuse to serve people, however you are breaking the law if you charge more than the price that is advertised, which seems to me what they are doing.

Just wondered out of interest if anyone knew the law on this? Is it legal what they have done?

Thanks
Aha, so thats how you do a signature!

    Yes it is legal.
  • Hi. I have had the same thing happen with Zavvi. It was the first time I had used them and item was showing 'in stock' when I ordered. They emailed me cancelling my order and thanking me for my understanding! All I understand is that they have the item in stock now but at a much higher price. Well I won't be using them again........
