Guttering issue causing damp

Hi Guys,
I need a bit of help with a guttering problem, one on my friends has a terraced house with a guttering run along the front. The down pipes that are utilised are on the properties at either side, however in the infinite wisdom of one of his neighbours they have capped off their side, resulting in a gap in the guttering.
The problem lies in the fact that the neighbour has capped their guttering off and have also angled it slightly upwards. My friend's has also been capped as required but obviously this has left a gap between the two caps which is allowing water to run under and cause damp in the property. The neighbour is refusing to allow a join and that will take a while to dispute, in the short term does anybody know of a way of ensuring that this can be sealed up by another method so that rain water does not run under the eves into the property.
Many Thanks
Andy

the most easist way to stop the water getting in is to place a piece of lead under the second to last row of tiles before the end of the roof and form the lead to deflect the water run off towards your friends gutter. Or depending on the typr of roof your friend has, you could tuck the lead fillet under the last row of tiles and form it to deflect the water into the gutter as above!
if you live near a scrap metal merchants/yard, they would probaly give you a small piece of lead for a couple of quid (saves having to buy a large piece).
