No more Teletext on TV

2009 I thought tv was supposed to be better.
Watching the Royal Variety Performance on ITV, but now I have to change channels to find out what the latest football scores are.
While watching ITV, it was just a flick of the finger and the scores would flash up on the screen.

Digital Teletext is the pits, footy scores are never up to date Just take last night even in the results section on BBC Liverpools score was not there turned 10 o clock and on the scores section was still showing as 1-1 at same time.
As for the ITV version forget it so slow.
This is in the North West.

I'm so cross they turned off teletext - my 88 Grandad loves it, and spends ages every night reading all the letters on there. He doesn't have (or want) a computer, and it was his connection to the outside world. I think more people use teletext than we realise.

Teletext is dropping (well has now dropped) all its editorial content so I think it's just going to be flights and all that pap now. It's been common knowledge it was going to happen for months. Game Central, the best independent gaming magazine (thing) around was on teletext, so the viewers set up a massive campaign to save it. I don't really care about the rest of teletext, but my beloved page has been saved in some capacity, so I'm happy.
  • I guess what most people don't know is that teletext ltd is owned by the same people who own the Daily Heil Fail Wail Mail. Yeah you know, the wannabe middle-class tabloid, the one that loves to give the BBC a good hammering for things like "lack of public accountability".

I'm pretty sure the Mail would go mental if the BBC dropped Ceefax, yet seem very quiet about this, odd that, I wonder why.... If asked to comment I wouldn't be surprised if they said the loss of teletext was "a great and glorious victory for choice and all right minded people against the perverted and evil forces of Political Correctness and ZaNuLabour" :D

Saw it at my in-laws at the weekend. No meaningful content on ITV teletext (what a bland name- preferred Oracle), but they happily checked on the BBC site.

I used to text every night in bed and it would nicely send me to sleep. Now i am still wide awake after reading the poor offering from the BBC!!

I would count sheep but i just get pictures of Shaun and his friends and i end up laughing.............
  • Yes it's a bloomin nuisance having to change channels while watching itv, when you just want to check the news headlines, local news etc.
I used to do this when the ads were on, you could here when the programme was about to come on again.
