Can you suggest a decent computer monitor...

Options
with good resolution, 20+inch, for around £200? Would be mainly used for playing games.

It's for my DH for Christmas!

Thanks :j

  • Hi

I have a couple of Samsung SyncMaster 2232bw cost £199.99 last year, I have been delighted with them, I bought them with a view to playing online games and I have not been disappointed with these monitors.

Agreed Samsungs are really nice monitors.
  • If you can stretch your budget by £40 then nothing else will be better than the Dell 2209WA for the price.
  • i have the Samsung syncmaster p2250 i have had trouble with other monitors in the past but samsung really is the best for my money. Not only is the picture supurb but it looks cool too
  • Google Hannspree. They're awesome!
  • Phil - just looked them up and whilst they look nice, I can imagine them being a little expensive. Also there is little info on background on the company...

OP - a few people have suggested the Samsung monitors. I have a 22" and have had it for a couple of years now. No complaints from me. Wonderful blacks and good range of colour - note: I have spent a little time calibrating the monitor to achieve this (but this is normal for any monitor). Google the PC Pro A List. They usually have reviews in there.

Another vote for the Samsung Syncmaster P2250 here.

I got one about 4 months ago and it's brilliant for gaming and, as someone has already pointed out, it looks pretty sexy too ;)

The only word of caution is that the stand can be quite tricky to remove once attached if you want to package it up for moving. There is no release mechanism so you just have to tug it hard and sharp which I dont like. It did not mention this in the documentation so I spent an hour searching online before convincing myself that this was the correct method.

    But otherwise a great buy.
  • Argos are selling acer 22 inch widescreen monitors for £119.99, I've had acer monitors before and found them to be very reliable, and this one is no exception with a crisp clear picture and easy to set up.

Another vote for Samsung Syncmasters I have two 24" ones and they make my working life so much easier, am loving the extra screen real estate. I dont know how I managed on one 14" CRT.

I picked mine up from Play.com for £140 ish each last january.
