hmmm so much for 3 for 2!!!

Options
I bought 3 lots of christmas lights from empire stores because with the 3 for 2 offer on at the time it was a bargain or so i thought

one of the lights ( unluckily for me the free one) has broken after 12 days use

i have been told by the company i cant have a replacement as they are sold out and as the item was my free one i cant have any money back for it or a credit towards the other 2 lights

i cant return the other 2 sets either which is the only way id get a full refund as they arent faulty!

is this right or do i have the same consumer rights ?

thanks
vicki

But they're not fit for purpose. Send them all back and claim a refund.......

Ring consumer direct to clarify your position and see how to progress the matter.

I find it quite funny that they say the free set are the faulty ones assuming they are 3 identical sets of lights, how the hell do they know!!:D

Someone else posted with regards to free items yesterday, so I remember reading a post that contained this:-

    From Martins Consumer rights guide:
' if a free gift comes with something else, maybe a free bike when you sign up to a gym contract or a free matching toaster if you buy a particular brand of kettle, and the free item later becomes faulty, you have the same protection as if you’d paid for it. Most sellers will be aware of this but if you encounter problems stand your ground and complain.'
