Moonbeever - finally got intouch !

Hi everyone

Just thought I would share this with you for those that maybe wondering about moonbeever movements!

OR told me that the beevers would be contacting me about my NT ipa in Sept. They contacted about 4 weeks later (or so) asking for wage slips (3 months) and then to send the rest in as I get them.

My NT code was applied on 28th November (pay day) I went BR in June 09 ! Wow, they waited awhile.

I sent my NT wage slip to the beevers (28th nov) and I received a letter in the post this morning ! Very nice letter too. Politely asking for my NT money and giving me some options on how to pay it:

Cheque (they enclosed some payslips)

Standing Order

Or - some other means which I can discuss with them if I dont want to do the ones they suggested.

They didnt specify a date but I will email them tonight saying I will set up the Standing Order for this months money due (30th Dec) and send a cheque (which a friend will write out for me for the money which was due in November.

So, there it is. Quite a quick process for me - but then my NT code was £200 so worth their while may be?

Hope that helps some of you out there wondering.

See ya !

xx

Who are Moonbeever? what do they do?
  • Hi Matt

Moonbeever are the solicitors employed by the Official Receivers to collect any money due from an income payments agreement (ipa) or similar. I didnt earn enough to to pay the standard ipa which can run for 36 months, but I did earn more than £50 in tax, so, I was given a NT tax code and my tax from my wages now goes to moonbeevers.

The money they collected is distributed to all the creditors. An NT tax ipa only runs to the current tax year. So, mine has been applied now and will run till next April - 6 months.

Oh right thanks, I didnt realise tax money goes to creditors. Learn something new every day.

So once I go BKO do I stop paying tax straight away? and have towait for Moonbeever to get in touch, why do they take so long to get in touch. I rather not be paid my tax and have to sit on it.

Matt, you keep an eye on your payslips and when your tax goes to zero and you have more money ion your wage, you then put this money aside and wait for MB to contact you about paying it to them.

Though I have to say from here on in we will find fewer people getting this as there is little time between now and 5th April.

    From the Bankruptcy Help sticky

    Nil tax (NT) coding/IPAs (MSE)

If you haven't read the sticky yet then I recommend you do.

  • Here's my timeline:
Went BR at end of Sept.
HMRC wrote to me first week in December saying they intend to apply a NT code (Not paid until Dec 31, so not sure if it has been done yet).
    Still nothing from the Beeverhouse.
  • So, we went BR in December, haven't heard anything yet, but wouldn't expect to.

But, it seems that it takes a couple of months for them to get in touch, assuming it is that with us, and dh starts his tax code say Feb next year, is it just for the two months?

Or, would they hold it over 'til the new tax year to make it more worth their while? dh pays around £300 a month tax at the moment.

Oh, and, if it was the new tax year does the ipa end when you are discharged? or does it run 'til the end of the tax year?

    Hi in a mess

Your tax code should return to normal in april 2010, regardless

  • Not everyone gets a NT tax code, it depends on when you go BR. We went BR at the begining of January and did not get a NT tax code as there was not enough time to get it up and running.

one other thing to remember....if you pay under £50 or so a month then the OR's wont usually bother collection NT
