Switching from S.E. to BG websaver5 any catches I’ve missed?
Energyhelpline is showing BG WebSaver5 as a £323 saving based on my yearly actual meter usage (G = 24086KWh, E = 6141 KWh icld.15% E7). Currently on S.E internet standard (I think?) and the monthly payments have just gone up to £72 & £71 so £1716 a year so actual saving with BG would be £435 based on energyhelpline expected annual spend quote of £1281?
Is there anything I need to be aware of before switching to BG websaver5? I appreciate there’s Cancellation fees.

You should not be on economy 7, the night rate savings are being wiped out by the higher day rate costs.
Are you in credit with your current supplier?
Is your account up to date wrt up to date meter readings? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
No not in credit, small debit of around £50 on each so monthly payments adjusted accordingly. Yes meter readings up to date in November. Not sure if actually on E7 we have a low and normal meter reading with the low (879KWh a year~ 15% of total) charged at the lower rate. So are you saying there's an option to come off that so the normal rate is at a lower cost?Regards

Check with your current supplier what you are on, if you are on E7 and want to come off it either the supplier will simply add the low and high rates together and put you on a single rate or change the meter. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

JackRS,
if you haven't already done this, try putting your kwh numbers into the switching site in 2 different ways and compare the cost.
1. as if you are on E7 with the split
2. as if you are on a single meter tariff and just add your normal and low numbers together.
I guess penrhyn will be correct, and the lowest cost will not be E7.
BG are one of the companies that are able to add the numbers together and not require you to have the meter changed, so websaver 5 may be a good solution.0 -
Thanks all. I've Just check latest SE online bill and it states 'your Tariff is Economy 7' so that answers that! I pay 13.57p for each day unit and 5.06p for each night but as i said in the last year we have only used 15% night. So if the day units are charged at a premium as a penalty for being on a E7 I've been a muppet! I'll check the difference with or without.Regards

OK I’ve compared with and without E7 and with BG websaver5 it’s £50 a year cheaper to go without E7. That would give me actual yearly saving of £400 when I compare my actual payments against energyhelpline prediction.
So is there any catches? Assuming BG are OK to do none E7 and combine day and night energy readings?Regards

Yep, you are good to go0

You should ring/email BG to establish the situation regarding E7 metering before switching. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

If you switch using one of the cashback sites you should be able to get £40 cashback on top of your saving.
