Flights to Oz - when best time to buy

We hope to visit Oz Oct/Nov 2007 but want to get organized well before we go. When would be the best (ie cheapest) time to book our flights? Do airlines have special offers at particular times of the year? Thanks in advance

Airlines like Emirates and Etihad are growing very fast and are adding to the possibilities of route and stopovers between UK and AUS.

BA usually have a sale in January, other airlines often follow.

Not sure but don`t think that schedules and therefore prices are available till about 6 months before.

Some flight details are available 350 days in advance.

I guess we'll find out when flights are available when we start our organising in earnest

Schedules only cover the next 12 months. Buy tickets in November 2006 for a trip in November 2007. This is what we did last year with Emirates and paid £580 each. Mind you, the Dubai - Sydney leg was a torture and is longer than SE Asia - Sydney!

Wow, that seems cheap! OK, details please about the torture - just the length of the flight or other stuff?

I flew Gatwick - Dubai (approx 7 hours) and then a straight flight to Sydney (approx 14 hours). All in all, it takes about the same sort of time but the 14 hour leg (maybe more - i don't wear a watch on flights) was hard going.

But there's very little in it if you fly to BKK or Singapore for the stopover. Whichever route you take, they are all a killer!

We are going to Oz in January 2007 & we looked at loads of websites the cheapest we found was dialaflight £817 each. We could only book 350 days in advance. Dilaflight was good they only wanted £100 deposit per person & the rest 4 months before we go.
    Hope this helps
