Have you been invited for an interview?
Haven't heard anything yet, Poppy9. Don't know whether to read anything into that or not! I can't remember when the closing date for applications was, and it's only been about 10 days since I applied, so I'm still cautiously hopeful!

Whether or not this will be an issue will depend on the personalities involved in the shortlisting process (as well as the quality of the other applications). I would play it safe in future and stick to answering the questions just so as to avoid unnecessary worry.

If you get an interview then it is unlikely they would refer specifically to this, as interview questions tend to be standard across applications. I would definitely not raise it again myself but, if asked about proof reading experience, would refer only to previous jobs where it was a requirement.

I think a good rule to live by in relation to work(and I have learned ths the hard way myself ;)) is to try to come across as 'clever but not too clever'. Hopefully your brightness will be appreciated and valued by your future boss, but no-one likes to feel they are in competition with a smart-!!!! employee.... :)

Try not to get too hung up about it though and think about all that you have to offer when the right interview comes along. Good luck with this one.
  • I once worked for a company who recruited CEO's and the like for blue chip companies and LA people. I was 17 at the time. Every advert went out saying that they companies were equal opportunity companies. I always remember the letter from a disabled gentleman, with very little skills matching the person spec, stating that due to his disability he looked forward to being interviewed for the position! Funnily enough, he didn't!

That might sound a bit harsh, but even if it is equal opportunities, disabled people are only guaranteed interviews if they meet the person spec!
Life is like a box of chocolates..........you always seem to pick the hard ones!
