Do you think I've scuppered my chances?

I have applied for a position with a local authority. One of the essential criteria is "proof read other peoples work".
I have answered this section very positively, but I also pointed out that I have identified several errors in the job/people description. (Nine, in fact, but I didn't say how many I'd noticed on the application form!)
I'm wondering if I've made me sound like Smuggy McSmuggerson - or maybe the errors were a "trap" and put there deliberately.
I really like the sound of the job, so I'd like to at least stand a chance of an interview.
WDYT - have I made a blunder by saying what I did? I've sent the application off now, so can't unsay what I've said

Is this the same post I've already replied to? You must be really worried if you felt the need to post it twice....0

I personally don't think it was put there as a 'trap' - Local Authorities don't do that - but I certainly don't think you have scuppered your chances.
Good luck!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Well, do they want someone who can do the job or do they want their egos stroking by someone who pretends they never make a mistake? It would be pretty stupid to penalise you for it.0

I've just consulted my psychic cat. He says you've not got the job.I am an employment solicitor. However, my views should not be taken to be legal advice. It's difficult to give correct opinion based on the information given by posters.0

Let us know how it goes, I've been tempted before to point out errors but been too much of a wuss!0

If I were responsible for recruiting for this vacancy, you would stand out from the rest and definately be put to the top of the pile. Based on the vacancy requirements, I think what you did is spot on.:smileyhea0

Hi
I went for an interview (via an agency) for a job I was well qualified to do. The job required attention to detail and working accurately. When I was turned down, I asked the agency for feedback. I was told that the prospective employer (chartered accountants) felt I was "too picky" as I had spotted anomalies between their T&Cs and those given to me by the agency. I've noticed that many employers actually steer clear of candidates who may outshine them in the workplace. Don't feel too bad if you don't get the job - if you are penalised for being switched on, I doubt the employer is worth working for.0
