  • My cleaner uses the latex disposable gloves. A new pair for each job. Maybe they would be more comfortable as you would be able to "feel" what you are doing? Oh and don't forget Home Bargains for your hand/foot creams. x
  • Well, picked up the hemp hand cream today and been using it through the day, hands defo feel softer, am impressed how quickly its worked. Thanks to all who reccommened it.

minimoneysaver - thats a good idea, thankyou.
  • That sounds really interesting and useful ......does anybody recall a name (for the barrier cream sold at Boots)?

It was obvious to me when I typed the recommendation but you're patently not a mind-reader. It was Boots' own brand barrier cream I meant. Sorry about that.:o

For anyone still looking for hand creams, I suffer with terribly dry, cracked skin on my hands and a touch of eczema. I've tried so many creams, Body Shop Hemp, Udderly Smooth, Vaseline Intensive Care, Flexitol, the list goes on. Anyway, my OH bought me some Burt's Bees Hand Salve as a stockingfiller at Christmas, and it has worked wonders.

It's more the consistency of soft wax than cream, but it doesn't take long to sink into the skin. It's so soothing, and has a lovely smell (slightly medicinal and herby). It's available on Amazon and they also do various other creams. Definitely worth a try if nothing else is working for you.
  • One more vota for the Body Shop Hemp one. Dad is a window cleaner and suffers from really bad cracks in his hand, and he cannot believe the difference this cream has made. His hands are healing well and are no longer painful. OH has excema and is also reporting good results. :)

I like BS Hemp but it's not cheap. I've been using Boots Royal Jelly hand cream and it's pretty good - far better than the aqueous cream I've been using.

Body Shop hemp hand protector is excellent.

I agree it is excellent and thanks for reminding me of it :T. My hands are like sand paper at the mo and I was trying to remember which cream I used last time they were this bad.

  • Body Shop Hemp is a good one, or L'Occitane Shea Butter handcream which is £16 for 200ml so not cheap but is brilliant on ultra dry hands I have found and I even saw stubborn excema patch dissappear, lasts a long time too
