1st Home - Gas and Electric advice - Energy smart?

Hello
I could use some advice – we are moving into our first home which is a new build home – so we have no idea about gas and electricity.
I like the sound of BG energy smart as I like the thought of paying only for what I use (I have heard some stories about companies keeping money and not wanting to give it back) but i understand it might not be the cheapest. Im finding it hard to compare as we don’t know what our usage would be.
What would your advice be – is BG Energy smart a good idea? Or should we shop around – if so how can we do that without knowing our usage?
Thanks
Natalie

best bet is to run a your details through a comparison site and see who comes up cheapest
i don't think the energy smart is new, most companys allow you to input actual readings instead of estimates now if you do your tarriff online:T:money::T0 -
British Gas websaver 5 looks a better option (cheaper rate) but you don't get the moniter, buy that via Amazon or the like £35.00 . Duel fuel and it is run over the internet. :rolleyes:0
