MBNA next step advice

Hi All
I have just received a response from MBNA after using the first template letter requesting insurance charges on the account. It turns out that since 2001 I have paid them an astonishing £5000 for PPI. I recently cancelled the insurance, the advisor told me that even though I have always been self employed the insurance still covered me. We discussed the extremes I would have to go to if I ever wanted to claim on the insurance and though he sounded sympathetic I was given the impression that there was no case for mis-selling. I want to continue with a claim, I have no memory of the initial conversation regarding PPI and do not have the original contract. What do you advise I do now ? Without the insurance charges on the credit card I would have paid them off years ago, now I am just treading water to meet the monthly payments.

  • Hi there

I'm quoting you I have no memory of the initial conversation regarding PPI - personally i think that gives you grounds in itself to reclaim as they really should have fully explained what the policy does and doesn't cover and made you fully aware of it.

Not sure if people would agree with me on this - but immediately this is what springs to my mind.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do
