Double the Difference is still policy and yes the lady should have got double back, ie got them free. The only time you don't get double the difference is if it would mean you got back ore than you paid, you should just get it free then.
Some stores/ CSD are really good and just give you double back whereas others will try and get away without doing it.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
Eschaton - It's not that I expected them for free!! I was obviously prepared to pay the advertised price!! I had to wait for about 20 minutes in the CS queue because THEY had overcharged ME! There was a sign up explaining the DD policy and in my opinion it was there error not mine.
Grannybiker - Thanks for your support! I'll let you know.

This happened to me once, I bought a bottle of washing liquid that said it was half price (£4 instead of £8). I spent ages checking that I had picked up the right bottle (size, name etc), when I got home and checked my receipt I had been charged £8.
I went back and the offer wasn't on and the CS desk looked at me blankly and said I must have been mistaken so I wrote to Head Office and sent my receipt and they sent me a gift card for £8.
I made a fuss 'cause I knew I was right and I was glad I did.Don't wait for your ship to come in, swim out to it.0 -
Well, I phoned HO today and they said that it was up to the store to sort it out and there's nothing they can do apart from put a complaint in. Even if I did that, she said I would still have to take the matter up with the store if I wanted the DD.
So the bottom line is .......The store said ring HO (and gave me the number) yet HO said go back to the store! Don't think its worth the messing about but they shouldn't have a policy if they do not stick to it!!
Littlemissbossy - Glad you got your money back, well done!0 -
Pink-lady - write to the store and send a copy to the customer service department at head office explaining what has happened. It will cost you a couple of stamps but you might get a result. Or just don't put stamps on and it will cost them a couple of quid to go get the letters. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

Yeah I might just write a letter. It's the principal of it all!!
Thanks xx

Some store are just tight, it comes off their profit. They are meant to follow the policy but some are better than others, that goes with the staff as well. Some just do it others will argue the toss.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

Head Office are taking the proverbial!
Tesco have a policy, clearly displayed that a store hasn't followed.
When you (rightly) object to being cheated, they pass you back to the cheating store!
Sounds like you got a lazy employee that simply couldn't be bothered.
If you're got the time and energy I'd definitely write and this time add a complaint about the incompetent Head Office person too.
Ask them why they have a policy and don't follow it?
Wonder if they'd be so complacent if it was their policy of expecting customers to pay for their goods that was being challenged?!Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0
