Tesco Policy on Offers

Hi, long time lurker first time poster ;-) just wondering if this sounds right to you lot who seem very up-with-the-play when it comes to these sorts of things... last week from Tesco I picked up two boxes of After Eight mints that were on a free standing display in the biscuit aisle BOGOF but when I got home I saw the offer I had been given was 2 for £4, they are £2.79 per packet. So the next day I went back to the store and the lady at customer services said she couldnt find any evidence of the BOGOF offer and couldnt be bothered looking into it further (was very busy in store) so she would essentially do me a favour and gave me £2 back and not make me prove that there was a BOGOF deal that day.
Does anyone know what their official policy on this sort of thing is? I cant figure out what the £2 she gave me back actually represents. If she was honouring the original offer of BOGOF then surely the £4 I paid means I should have gotten £1.21 back and kept the two items????

You get double the difference back so you should have got £2.42 back but seeing as it could no longer be proved, £2 is a pretty good compromise! HTH0

You usually do have to show that the offer was on, that is why it is best to check your receipt before leaving the shop. That way you can go check the signs and then if you are right go and complain. I always offer to show the member of staff where I picked them up from as some products might be in a number of places around the store. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

The silly thing is that I told myself to check before I left the store as I didn't really need them and was only a good deal if got the offer, but you can imagine how feral a toddler turns at the checkout after the 2 week shop is done! The £2 the CS gave me is a good compromise, was just a bit confusing is all. Good to know what their actual policy in these matters are tho, cheers.0

You get double the difference if the shelf edge label has a different price to the one at the till. They only do it if it is the same product, not if the product or shelf edge label are in the wrong place, eg if the shelf edge says 200g Tea 45p but the product is 500g tea which you get charge £1 for. In that case you wouldn't get the double difference. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

Just got back from my local Tesco and I've got a query if anyone can help?!
They had a rack of Jeggings (leggings but look like jeans!) that were reduced to half price. Full price was £12, I bought 2 pairs for my daughter and me. I was charged full price so I went to CS who told me that the SA had to manually price over-ride to show discount. They only gave me the difference back. Is this right or should I have had DD? When I asked about DD they saqid it didn't apply and gave me the Head Office number. Is it worth ringing HO?!!
Thanks x0 -

You got them 1/2 price and now you effectively want them for free ?

Actually, ignoring a 50% reduction then applying the DTD policy is effectively that- that's why they try to wriggle out of it by giving just the refund of the difference.
If only they got their act sorted, (reprogramming their systems) there wouldn't be any need for arguing and far fewer ccustomers who may not have noticed the overcharge would be, effectively, ripped off.
Pink Lady- The board that advertises the DTD policy makes no mention of ANY exclusions. They were bulling you, flower. Yes, do ring HO. CS were / are wrong.
Let us know how you got on

If you notice the error before your whole transaction is complete they don't give you the DDD. Nor do they offer unless you specifically ask, then they argue. In fact, they argue even when you present them with the label, claiming that it 'isn't their fault'.
I use the self serve now, then I can check each item as there are many errors.0 -
If I remember correctly double the difference (when I worked in tesco) was being withdrawn and only the difference being given, if you look in store there is no mention of it.0
