Hi
about 11 months ago i bought an LG washing machine, it started leaking water for a while and then stopped,it hs started agin but much worse.
Today i had an engineer came out and he found a dent in the panel that i never noticed, he says that he thinks the machine was dropped by the delivery men and it has bent the casing so the water is leaking when the machine fills from the dispenser. he says he is going to write a report saying it cant be fixed and recommend a new machine, basically what are my chances of getting a new machine? do i have any rights with currys who i bought it off?
thanks

I would say very slim. If you didn't notice the dent and inform Currys within the first few days of ownership then I very much doubt they're going to believe that it wasn't caused my yourself during your 11 months of ownership. You could possibly try claiming against your contents insurance.
hi thanks
Sorry I actually used the wrong word to describe it, it's not actually a dent its more like the side panel has bevelled if you see what I mean, it didnt start leaking until recently, so i suspect that the damage was slight but the bevelling has maybe increased with spinning? if you look at it you cant really see it you have to run your hand over the panel to feel it, the engineer was stumped, it took him a good half hour to suss it out
I dont have contents insurance and the washing machine cost £600 :eek:0 -

If the guy does indeed say it cant be fixed you will more than likely get a new one i would ring currys and see what they say. *edit* if the guy states in his paperwork it was more likely to be done by delivery guys, given my experience, they understand its quite common for the items to be damaged during transit
however i have very little faith in the currys/dixons group. ordered a washin machine in feb, arrive damaged, accepted it and the engineer came out a week later to repair the damage. anyway with it going wrong at least once a month i finally got dixons to replace the machine which arrived saturday just gone and guess what? damaged too! i told the drivers that as i accepted the other one damaged and had nothing but problems i would ring dixons and see what they say. Basically dixons/hotpoint agreed that i could accept the damaged one and use that until they can deliver me one that isnt damaged (3rd time lucky i hope!) my washing machine probably wasnt as expensive as your lg but if you pay £450 for something you expect it to be delivered in new condition!, when you do get a new one, make sure you really check it over, if there is damage on the new one ring currys before you accept it!Can you see the mountains through the fog?0 -

Sorry to hear you've had so much hassle with your washing machine, hopefully the 3rd one will be ok. yes definetly expect something to be delivered as new..whatever the cost.
I once had a yellow sofa delivered by argos and it had a massive black stain on the back, so I refused delivery and made them take it back. then i actually heard one of the delivery guys moaning that i could have just put the cover in the washing machine! from a brand new £400 sofa?!!
IS HE MENTAL!!!
i am quite worried that they will say i should have noticed when i accepted the washer and seeing as i didn't tough luck. The engineer will report to LG about the fault and then its goes from there, but hopefully they will just give me a new one, if i do get one i will def go over it with a magnifying glass!0 -
Just a quick update:
LG have been brilliant, no hassle at all and they sent me a letter to get a new washing machine at currys. The washing machine has increased in price but still got the same one, been delivered and is working brilliantly.
Currys have been less than brilliant. it was not booked for them to pick up the old machine, so now I have 2 machines sitting in my kitchen!0
