Our satnav unit decided to die after four years (Garmin i3) and I need a new one.
How time has changed in four years, there are so many on the market now that it is much more difficult to decide. Did some research on Which? And other sites (Gadget show ,daily newspapers etc’) which made me even more confused. However I thought if I’ll ask here about a recommended model as I always find the opinions here a bit more down to earth.
What I want from a satnav unit is simple:
1. We don’t drive outside the UK
2. I need it to be accurate as much as possible
3. Clear display even with direct sunlight
4. Logical British directions (The use of local terms to describe the roads)
5. Possibly a battery life of 5 hours at list (as with the i3) but I can compromise on this one
6. Description should be clear and not tell me to ‘turn left’ when obviously it is only a bend in the road
7. No need for MP3, photos and other bells and whistles just a simple A to B device to compliment my Atlas or Google maps prints.
8. ££ is not an object
Thanks in advance to any recommendations from users of any system.

Garmin Nuvi 205 or Tom Tom One.
They're both basic, straightforward devices. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Tom Tom one which I have is very good although the battery life is no-where near 5 hrs, simply use incar charger with cigarette lighter socket. Also windscreen mounting bracket supplied is hopeless.0

I have a TT 1 and find it great. best battery life I have had is 3 hours. I find the windscreen stick on holder works well for me.0
