No chance?

Any mileage in trying to claim 'unfair' charges against cash advances on a credit card? I wrote to my credit card company 'egg' and asked for details of how much cash had been taken out on my card. They said that I would have to pay £5 to find out. They could not provide me with details of how much I had paid in interest charges for the cash withdrawn or when the charges would end based on a minimum monthly payment. Is this a dead end?

If they are unfair, definitely claim.

What makes you think they are unfair?

You are usually provided at regular intervals with a statement/bill that details all charges on a credit card. Extra copies of these are often available from the cc supplier, but a charge is then made as per the terms & conditions.

You do realise that most charges are fair and and are allowed to be charged? Even those that many consider unfair are not.

So, why do you consider those charges unfair?

There is no mileage whatsoever on that since you are paying for a service which they are providing.
When you wrote to them were you specific on how much you would take out and approximately how long you would pay it off and the payments that you were going to make?
