Pen wont work on signature strip

I have just received my new credit card and pen will not take on the signature strip.

Any ideas how to get around this, i dont want to send for a new card if i can help it. Dont want to try lots of different types of pen and ruin the strip completely if there is something that i could clean the strip with (perhaps) to make it easier for the pen to write.

Buy a fine 0.5, 0.7 permanent marker pen. You can get them for writing on CD and DVD's

I've never had a card that a good old BIC biro wouldn't work on - and I've got through a lot of cards over the years!

I generally use one of those too. Beware though that just occasionally you find that after writing your signature the strip starts to absorb the ink - as if you've just written on blotting paper!

No one has checked my signature on the strip in years.... I was using an unsigned card for 18 months before I realised I forgot to sign it..... chip and pin

When this happened to me I used a tiny screwdriver and etched my signature into the strip... I had no choice, no pens would work on it!
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.
