HI DOGSHOME
Im not sure where you got 45.6 pence a unit???0 -
I have been reading up on other posts that energy companies can only chase up the last 1 year worth of bills as they have not bothered to send anyone around to read the meter for the last 2 and half years....is this correct???0

Sadly that is not correct. If it were they would have little income!!
They cannot back-bill more than 12 months if the haven't sent a bill, They can use estimated meter readings(and very frequently do!!)0 -
I am sendimg my letter to EDF in the morning stating a few things from this thread....earlier as i was going through some letters sent from EDF i found a letter stating
" A meter reader called at your property recently and obtained a meter reading. However, after comparing it to previous meter readings taken it appears to be incorrect. Due to this we have estimated your lastest bill, based on your previous electricity use" Dated January 2008
I cant belive that they estimate your bill even after there own employee gives them an accurate reading. Im sure all that i have told you in this thread would of been nipped in the bud nearly 2 years ago................would the above make any difference!!,0 -

The computer is programed to ignore any meter reading that it 'thinks' is an error, and substitutes an estimated reading instead. Normally this is done when the previous meter reading(s) were also estimated and a huge difference in reading seems implausible.
Bear in mind that this is all done automatically.
At least you got a letter informing you that they thought the reading wrong.
Don't forget there can be readings from yourself, the meter reader or the meter reader sometimes pushes a card through the letterbox if you are out and asks you to stick the card in the window.
Why did you not check when you got the Jan 2008 letter? It almost certainly would have asked you to do so, and the bills ask you to check estimated readings and submit your own.0 -
hi STDK
if you explain that you are a residential customer then perhaps they may recalculate your bill as that, anyone know if they would do this?0
