about 3 years ago we got a new fridge freezer from comet. the shelves collapsed for no reason [harly overloaded as we cant affor to overload the thing] and mr OH has done a repair job involving door bars.
however the back of the shelves are now collapsing as are the trays on the inside of the fridge door. all platic parts.
surley an indesit FF should last longer than 3 years without falling to pieces.
the prolem we have is we paid cash and cant find the receipt.
would they, comet, have a record anyway somewhere of our proof of purchase?

Do you have the instruction or warranty book?
Personally, I would contact Comet and ask if there is anything they can do. I believe that unless you have the warranty info and proof of purchase, there isn't anything they HAVE to do. Hopefully I'm wrong though!0 -
As Vic says, see if you have warrenty documents then that might help but contact Comet to see if they are willing to do anything. I'm afraid to say it, but I think you might struggle to get anywhere.
With no proof of purchase, you've got nothing to show when it was bought (or indeed that it was even bought from Comet). I expect that Comet's records will show that your model FF was bought from a store on a day three years ago, but will probably have nothing to show who it was sold to so won't be able to prove that it was you that bought it. (The cynical side of me thinks that, even if they could show that you had bought it, they wouldn't tell you anyway as it may make it more likely that they would have to pay out for a repair).
Even trying to go down the route of claiming under the Sale of Goods Act will be tricky without anything to prove when and where it was purchased.
If you don't get anywhere (which, I'm afraid is probably quite likely), it might be worth contacting Indesit directly to see if they could sell you new shelves to replace the problem ones. Yes, this will cost you, but will be cheaper than replacing the whole FF.No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -
I think with a purchase such as a fridge freezer, they'd be able to find it (assuming they have such a database). More so if it was delivered to you, they're more likely to have taken your details.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
