I have a bit of a odd problem, my printer at work a HP G55 works fine except for the fact that black ink is leaking out of the bottom of it!!!! which is making somewhat of a mess!! If I take out the black cartridge this looks fine, no excess ink around the print head etc. I'm at a loss - any ideas anyone.

If this printer has had a long life it could be the "ink well", where the printer discharges ink while cleaning, and whilst storing. Overtime this will fill with ink (its normally a sponge like material), and eventually it might leak (I have seen it on a few HP printers).
You can clean it up a little bit, but you might just want to buy a new printer!0
