I have been trying to convert vhs to dvd following the instructions on this Which? video

It seems quite straight forward apart from the confusion with the sky box. Do I connect the vhs to the dvd recorder or the sky box? The vidoe and dvd play when I connect the vhs to the sky box but it is not recording. I think I have got confused. Do I just ignore the sky box?
