BT landline Contract Renewal

I joined BT in November 2008 on a 12 month contract for their anytime plan and asked to be set up to pay monthly direct debit and gave relevant information over the phone. Come the end of December I had not had the payment taken from the bank so rang BT to be told that my account had been set up for quarterly billing. Customer Service assistant then changed me over to monthly Direct Debit. Everything went o.k. until my bill for November 2009 showed an amount for calls that were dated July 09. I rang BT to query this and inform them that I would not be renewing my contract when it expired. I was told that the charges would be removed. I have since transferred my landline to Talk Talk on a better deal and have received a December bill from BT today showing a £89.00 one -off charge. I rang BT to query this and was told that this was because I had renewed my contract. I explained that I had already informed them that I was leaving and this had been reflected in an increased bill for November and that if they referred to my November bill they would see an increased charge for my anytime plan which meant I was out of contract. They have supposedly removed this charge and informed me that I will receive a revised bill in a few days. Hopefully I will then be rid of these idiots.

The phrase "out of the frying pan into the fire" comes to mind. ;)
  • We've used both Talk Talk (once) and BT (three times)

All three times BT was a comprehensive shambles.

    Talk Talk were just frustrating.

Regardless, if I were you I would place no value in that call. I would assume it will simply be ignored and not actioned and will drag on and on. Pop a letter in the post to them registered delivery to confirm.

    Hi Duffers4768,

I would like to take a look at your account to insure that the charge has been correctly removed. Please can you drop me an email with your BT account details along with a link to this thread? Once I have received those details I will take a look at this and reply to you directly.

    Thanks
