My friend is useless when it comes to computers but is looking for a new/ish pc .He has had 3 computers in 5 years all from ebay .
first one ,droped it down the stairs
second one poured a pint of beer over it
Third one ,wouldnt pay to update the anti virus ,got a virus ,binned it .
He borrowed my printer and dropped it on the footpath ,so I would say he is accident prone .
Now where should he look for another pc that isnt going to cost an arm and a leg .Also what spec should he look for .
He had talked about getting a laptop but I know it wouldnt last .
So to recap a decent (cheapish ) pc ,with free anti virus and a fire wall .

free anti-virus and firewall aren't a prob, there's a positive plethora of sound freeware programs available for download.
as regards spec, it entirely depends upon what he intends to use the comp for, so we really need to know intended use
oh, and next time, he drops his comp ,or gets a virus, drop me a pm and I'll take it off his hands lol"If you really want to hurt your parents and you don't have nerve enough to be homosexual, the least you can do is go into the arts."0 -

yeah, if it's mostly just for internet (and given his 'luck'), then he's probably as well just buying the cheapest dell he can find.
This one (on the right) would do the job quite nicely (may want to consider slapping a cheap stick of mem in), and you can't argue with 299 delivered. and of course the full Dell warranty
