    Thank you Factoryworker

We've opened a basic account with Barclays - cashcard but no chequebook or overdraft.
The thread about that is here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2059465

The reason why she has both British Gas and Eon as suppliers, is that a few months ago I tried to change suppliers (BG and Npower) to Eon for both, but as there was an outstanding amount on the gas bill the switch didn't go ahead - only now are both accounts settled.

Hopefully Brian will be able to give some info on Eon Social Tariffs?????

We have had help from a local agency about sorting the debts, it was through them that we got the loan payments from Nat West reduced, which resulted in the bank account being closed.

I'd heard about the grant funds, but as the main debts were with British Gas and their customer services were not brilliant, I just wanted to get the bills paid and start afresh.
  • from brians previous post its for new customers....so technaclly no; however i would push on vulnerability grounds that in customers best interest, and would hope that they would; if eon don't accomodate, either contact brianto see if he can oil the wheels or consider BG offer previously suggested

The value of such is often unregnosided, and unappreciated (and normally unfunded). Fortunately you had the foresight to approach assistance...

the people that work in CAB, Help the Aged/homelss helpline/local agencies are inavriably volunteeers, and like carers they are the unrewarded, unacknowledged beautiful people who do what they do not for recognition but for the self fulfillment of helping a fellow human in their moment of need .

Sorry for the sermon, but i'd also include the Samaratins in that

    Hi Zebra,

Sorry for the delay guys, I left at 6pm yesterday so just missed you! :p

Firstly you’re spot on factoryworker; discount of 3% is received if the monthly bill is paid within 14 days of the bill date. The discount is applied to the next bill.

Zebra, in regards to getting onto monthly billing this can be arranged, and the tariff will remain the same. This wouldn’t be available if the tariff was a tariff that required Direct Debit as its payment method. Monthly billing would also be okay if your friend had the gas with us as well.

The E.ON social tariff is WarmAssist. This is only available to those over 60 years of age though, how old is your friend?

In regards to any outstanding arrears with other companies, there are trust funds available with some local water boards, it maybe worth looking into this as they are set up to help people with debt and poverty situations. Here’s a link to the Severn Trent site http://www.sttf.org.uk/ others are United Utilities and Southern Water.

The priority service register is a must, your friend can be added to this in a moment, E.ON just need details of the disability and the account will be updated to reflect this information. This information helps us to improve our service for our more vulnerable customers regarding their gas and electricity supply. It also makes us aware of customers who can be severely affected by loss their gas or electricity supply. So it’s very important people notify us of their circumstances at every opportunity.

If you’d like to contact me regarding anything you are more than welcome to use the email address on the left of my post. :)

Its a really good idea however could be better if it was applicable to websaver 5.

As said before on this thread customer service can vary from company to company. It depends on who you speak to with every company. Some people swear by BG some Hate BG thats life ( I have a old woman who phones me everytime she has a problem) thats what happends when you give your extension number.

Edit - She also sent me a christmas card bless

My friend's decided that monthly direct debit would be ok.

Her electricity plan is EON Track and Save 2 Plan.

Maybe Brian could confirm whether this was the cheapest electricity plan and which gas plan would be best?

    Thanks in advance.

Your friend has taken their time. Hey, it's more than two months later - you'll have to start over and go to the comparison sites and trawl through the calculation all over again. E-on (and other suppliers) have probably changed tariffs and names three times in that period ;).

    Hi Zebra, :hello:

KimYeovil is right; there’s no question that since we last spoke there will have been either changes to prices or new tariffs made available.

Track and Save 2 may not be the cheapest tariff for your friend, this is reinforced by the fact that your friend would now happily pay by Direct Debit.

Paying by Direct Debit will open up many more tariffs so a cheaper deal may now be available.

I’d look at the comparison sites to see what’s now available, make sure you use the annual kWh figures rather than what’s been paid.

We can probably offer a better tariff than Track and Save, so if you’d like to discuss this further please feel free to email me on the address provided, I’d be more than happy to help.

    Brian :)
