The store don't know yet, as no details have been released.

Prices used to change every Friday but now can now change daily, so store's don't necessarily know too far in advance. But this will be a big event, and stores will need the resource to put the flyers and whatnot...

Last year finance/account card holders were invited to take advantage of savings a week before Christmas, but this year nothing yet has been announced.

Traditionally the sales start on Boxing Day at B&Q - this year should be the same as others.

The period between Boxing Day and the beginning of January is usually very good and you will get a very competitively priced kitchen. If it's 50% plus an extra 15-20% off then it's well worth buying.

They do much around with their prices but it's sometimes just doors or another part of the kitchen but in my own experience it's that 25th December - 5th Jan period that sees the best prices. I'd suggest getting a quote now that can be quickly amended to sale prices rather than waiting for an appointment in that period.

Don't forget VAT goes back up to 17.5% on 1st January ..not much i know but will soone add up on the cost of a kitchen and appliances. My guess is alot of retailers may use it to their advantage by knocking the 2.5% back off in an attempt to increase sales. Do your homework now so you don't get sucked into the percentage sales game!

Buy your appliances elsewhere though..not at B&Q. Just be wary as not all B&Q sales are all they seem ! I'd get everything specified up now and a price from a few places such Wickes, Ikea, Howdens and B&Q for comparison...then go back when the sales are on and ask for new prices and redo the comparison. Haggle a bit further too and play your quotes off against one another. In quality i'd be favouring Wickes over B&Q so don't just go on the price alone! Oh and if they want to charge you for a kitchen plan i'd tell them where to go!

    Good luck!

B&Q will never charge for a kitchen plan. Never.

Please be wary that B&Q consultant quotes are valid for 45 days from the date you have the original quote. Ie, if you have another a quote done which expires on 24th Jan and you have the kitchen requoted on 23rd Jan, you don't get another 45 days. Some people misunderstand the quote when it is reprinted, as they believe it resets the validity period.

no but the vat man does come calling and you cant argue with the tax man doe!
but on another note have you tried ikea got my kitchen from them excellent quality 25yr guarntee and also loads cheaper than the mains
    ikea kitchen for me £1750
    same kitchens from
    wickes £2500
    homebase £2700
    b&Q £2500

    saving £750
also ikea has online planning tool so can plan it all up easily and prices it all up not rocket science really have a look nothing to lose

also a trick to beaware of is b&q double there kitcken prices then do a 50% off sale did it last year just after christmas remember seeing a post on here i think if memory serves me.

edit just remembered also if you spend over £1500 you get 12months intrest free credit offer also spend over £3000 get 24 months intrest free credit not bad considering.
  • so, if they put a big 50% on say their doors only, will this unusally include the doors only avaiable to order (cheapo not cooke and lewis)?

Also, if they do an extra 10 or 15% off, does this normally only apply instore or online too?

The sale boards will tell you what is on offer, which range, what items. The post Christmas one is usually everything.

It will be online as well but have you ever tried searching for something on the B&Q website? It's the worst website ever - you'll end up ordering something you don't need if you can find anything that looks vaguely like what you want!

Or just do what i do...don't get sucked into all these sales, crack open a can..or six ..and veg out in the warm in front of the telly! Not moneysaving whatsoever but far less stressful! Then a week later i'll be annoyed with myself for missing out on the sales and have something else to be a grumpy old git about!! lol However you never have to wait long for the next sale!

Lets face it, most sales especially in the kitchen world are just the prices when they are not inflated to 200% to legally allow them to call it a sale price in the first place.
