time for another rant. we lived in a rented house for 6 months beteen august '04 and february '05. npower supplied us. british gas want us to pay for gas used between february '05' and june '05'
further infuriating me, while sitting on the phone like the patient man i am, im getting lectures from their robots about doing this, that and the other to save money. however its an 0845 number ive been stuck on for 15 minutes. yes i know its a local rate number. but it kind of defeats the purpose of their little robots.
i pointed this out to some snotty nosed woman when she had finally finished filing her nails and talking to her colleague about home life and all she could do was huff and say yeah well. NOT A GOOD THING TO TO TO AN AGGRAVATED MAN WHO'S ABOUT TO GET SCREWED IN COURT!
anyway she finally came round to my way of thinking, for two reasons
1) she didnt have a choice but to listen
2) they are in the wrong
i now have their stupid admail address to put my complaint in writing. they sai i need evidence. NO BRITISH GAS, YOU PROVIDE EVIDENCE THAT I WAS LIVING THERE.
it really pi**es me off when big companies try to take advantage of their consumers. and it annoys them when someone stands their ground.
what is it with these people? have they no morals at all??? one thing im sure of now though is my name must ring alarm bells with them because if they get me on the phone at 9am then im sure as hell they aint going to want to work the rest of the day when ive finished.

I work for british gas so two points -
1. Nobody I work with sits there filing there nails or chatting. We're taking calls constantly. One ends, you do any work required and then take the next call. We are targeted on how long we spend doing work between calls and can be reprimanded and eventually sacked if our "Average Handle Time" is too high. So it's not our fault you've had to wait so long. And we get really annoyed at having to listen to customers moaning about it. We do pass the comments on and I always apologise, but it's not our fault, it's whoever haven't employed enough people (although we are having a big recruitment drive in Leeds at the moment and are constantly employing new people). Also, if every customer spends 30 seconds moaning about the que, the que gets longer!
2. Glad you're setting off with the aim of making someones day a misery. I'm working from 8 this morning and hope I don't have to speak to you. None of your problems have been caused by the poor person who happens to answer their phone when you are top of the que. Have you never heard of the phrase "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar" or "treat others like you would like to be treated".0 -
i dont want to turn this into a thread where arguments are rife and so will do mu utmost to refrain myself.
british gas as a company are a bunch of thieving liars with no concern for their consumers. if they had sorted out the problem when we rang to tell them we had moved from our previous address then this wouldnt have happened. i dont like people taking me for a mug and it isnt my fault british gas doesnt have enough employees. and fyi i have worked in a call centre i know what happens there. im far from being too stupid to realise that some of the employees time is wasted on things unconnected to work. out of all the people i deal with in day to day life, british gas has to rank as the worst. their customer service is disgraceful. read my other thread and then tell me im in the wrong. they charge me the wrong amount of money and want me to pay for something i havent used. have you wondered why i dislike them so much?0 -
There is a difference though between saying a companies policy is for poor customer service and attacking the people who are simply earning a living and happen to answer your call.... I am sure that BG call centres are similiar to all the ones I have worked in where the advisors/ reps/ agents arent exactly empowered to change company policy. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
