Tiscali keep hassling me!

I cancelled a contract I had for broadband and a phone package with Tiscali in October 2008. I assumed that would be it and I would never hear from them again. I was wrong. I repeatedly got post and emails requesting I pay for phone services. As far as I was aware I had cancelled this and was getting pretty annoyed. In March 2009 I called to complain only to be told that my line had not been cancelled and that I owed them money.

I stated that I would pay the amount if they cancelled the phone package, this was duly done and yet again I believed everything to be cancelled. My mistake.

I received a phone call today from Tiscali requesting payment for unpaid phone calls. I got quite angry at this and tried to explain that I had cancelled everything over a year ago, why was I still being billed??

The guy on the end of the line told me that they couldn't cancel the talk package without the consent of BT, well BT are telling me that this is irrelevant as the line is theirs anyway. The guy at Tiscali would not listen to me when I requested he cancel the talk package, he said I would lose my line, I stated I didn't mind I just want the package cancelled. It is not at all efficient of the company to still be billing me more than 12 months after I cancelled.

Can anyone help me as to the next steps to take? I don't want to pay for something I wasn't aware I was using and believed had cancelled over a year ago.

Tiscali are going to send me the remaining bills, it is only a nominal amount but I am still loathe to pay for something that is not my fault. I told the guy on the phone this and he just threatened debt collection action.

Help, please!

Thanks :cheesy:
