XBox 360 Red Ring of Death after 3 years?

  • I have all three consoles. Sony online experience sux compared to XBL. And the new PS3 Slims seem to be having their own share of issues with many locking up after 30 minutes use.
  • We've got all three - the PS3 had to go back for a trip to Sony first to be honest (can't fault them - they did a straight courier swap sending us a replacement and taking our broken one away). The 360 lasted till a week before its warranty expired and the Wii's still going strong now.

Most of them seem distinctly sketchy in the durability department this generation - compared to the original Playstation and PS2s we have that are still going strong.
Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!

With the sheer number of 360 failings im beginning to wonder if the problem is far worse than microsoft are trying to make out

My 60GB PS3 is still flawless, but then I make sure its well ventilated unlike some people

  • if you're handy with a screwdriver/soldering iron and up for giving it a go you could just fix it yourself. i wouldn't recommend the towel trick tho, overheating it intentionally could damage other components in the long run. there are plenty of methods up on the internet, including video tutorials on youtube.
