Mobile cctv vans

Hi,
Does anyone know if Council Mobile CCTV vans that enforce parking restrictions are exempt from the parking restrictions that they are seeking to enforce themselves? The reason I ask is that I saw a mobile CCTV van outside my childrens school today. There was a car in fron of me as I was turning left (out of vision of the CCTV van) and I had to wait. As I was waiting, I asked my 2 children to get out of the car and as I was right by the school gate otherwise they would have been late for registration. I'm not sure if I will get a ticket for this through my door but I also noticed that the CCTV vehicle was parked on the school markings which is exactly what it is meant to be preventing. Is this legal? Would I have a good case for appeal?
Thanks

Regrettably the rats are probably allowed to, its one rule for us and one for them.
You'll possibly get a ticket if you were on the zigzag lines. If you do come back and see if anyone can help.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
well, one way to look at it:
if they were parked in a usable parking space, someone would then be moaning that that parking space was no longer available to be used, because the enforcement van was using it0 -
I might be wrong but I recall a council getting into trouble because they were using CCTV from a smart car to prosecute people without there being those speed camera signs warning that cameras were being used to enforce regulations.

Of course I might have imagined it or it might be something I heard in a pub.
If you do get a ticket, get over to Pepipoo and ask for their help. You may find there isn't a TRO for the zigzags at the school.
EDIT: found the story
