I sent a letter to FP a few weeks ago claiming miselling on a PPI of £838 on an agreement taken out on 18/11/03. I cleared all the £6000 loan and PPi in a single payment around 18 months into the 10 year agreement.
Recieved a reply from FP stating that as the poilcy was sold by a broker they cannot investigate the matter further - have referred it to the broker ( Weatherseal double glazing ) to investigate and that if i dont contact FP within 8 weeks they will close the case. Having had dealings with weatherseal in the past I dont hold out much hope of even hearing from them in 8 weeks never mind admit liability!!
My bone of contention is - are FP still ultimately responsible for this credit agreement as its still been sold by one of their authorised brokers?
All credit agreement paperwork had FP name on it and also the box the salesman signed was opposite a box saying ' Signed by First PLus Financial Group PLC '
Are FP hoping i give up or are they right to say it should be dealt with by Weatherseal - Im not sure where the ultimate responsibility lies.
Should i send a claim letter now to Weatherseal or should i send a strongly worded letter to FP stating that they need to deal with this ?
Thanks for any advice

Hi, I had this problem also with FP in that they said i used a broker and although I actually took the complaint to FOS against FP it was thrown out as outside their jurisdiction as FOS said I used a broker (listened to FP:rolleyes:).I sent a letter to FP a few weeks ago claiming miselling on a PPI of £838 on an agreement taken out on 18/11/03. Your only hope really is to pursue the broker with it and as I note this was sold prior to insurance being regulated by the FSA in 2005 I don't know if FOS would be able to pursue any further after if Weatherseal were not members of the GISC. (general insurance standards council). There is another way though through FOS and that is against the insurers. I know that FOS are accepting some complaints for misselling from unregulated brokers against the underwriter/insurer of the policy.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that was my own experience and it wasted so much time too going for FP. Perhaps it would be best to ask the FOS who to chase here.
Good luck0
