There’s a free £10 House of Fraser giftcard up for grabs for the first 20,000 Barclaycard credit card holders (not Barclays) that register for its online banking service, and opt for paperless billing before Wed 6 Jan.

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gif What's the deal?[/title]
It’s pretty simple. If you’re an existing Barclaycard customer, with almost any variation of its wide card range (see below for full details), you can get a £10 cash-style voucher to spend in House of Fraser if you’re willing to move your banking online.

Sadly, if you’ve already opted to join its online banking service – ‘mybarclaycard’ – prior to 8 December, then you won’t be able to get the voucher via this offer.

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gif Follow these steps...[/title]
  • Register for online banking: Click the register button on the bottom right, and fill in your details.
  • Get online billing too: You need to opt for ‘paperless billing’; this means you will no longer receive statements through the post.

    To do this, log into ‘mybarclaycard’, click on 'Your Details', scroll down to the paperless section, click on 'Change how you receive your statements’ and switch paper statements to 'off'.
Once you've done this, you'll receive the voucher through the post within 28 days of the closing date (6 Jan)

As mentioned above, if you already use the online ‘mybarclaycard’ banking service, then you won’t be eligible for this offer this time. However Barclaycard is running other promotions for those already registered for mybarclaycard, including £10/£5 if you opt for paperless billing. But you have to wait for an email, if you go through the link above, you won't get the offer.

Also, there’s a few cards that can’t be registered for the ‘mybarclaycard’ service, including...

  • Littlewoods
  • Barclaycard Business
  • Barclaycard Plus/Reserve
  • Barclaycard Football (Base Rate Tracker)

  • Does this apply to Barclaycard Credit card holders as well?
  • Email received from Barclaycard this morning...

    Hello *******,

    You’re already registered for our online account service, mybarclaycard, but do you know just how easy it can be to manage your account online? mybarclaycard has a whole range of new tools and features to make your life easier, including paperless statements. And if you switch before 31 December 2009, you could get a £10 House of Fraser voucher.*

    And if you’re one of the first 25,000 customers selected to receive this email who go paperless before 31 December 2009, you’ll get a £10 House of Fraser voucher.

    * Customers who opt for paperless after the closing date or after the first 25,000 eligible entries are received are not eligible.

    So it appears this offer may in fact be available to existing customers, though how you know whether you are one of the first 25,000 to reply is beyond me! They must have hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of customers!!! Seems more like a competition than an offer...
  • If this were Lloyds, I would do it straight away, but Barclays no way.

    I have accounts with both and with Lloyds I can view my first ever bank statement with them online (it was from about 2002). With Barclays I can't go back more than 6-12 months. Not helpful when I try to keep 5 years of records!

    I think it's only for credit card holders, not debit cards as I have a debit card with them but no credit card and there was an error when I tried to register. It also asked me for my credit limit which, having no overdraft on my current account, I put as 0, so I assume from that it's only for the credit card holders.
  • Hi, I received one of these vouchers earlier this year. There were so many constraints attached to them by HoF, I decided not to spend it.

    It can't be used against another offer and some items that I wanted were in the sale. You also have to use your barclaycard to purchase items with, and some on the consessions (especially make up) wouldn't take it at all.

    It seemed like a really lovely gift at the time, but totally frustrated me when I wanted to receive the joy!

    The link is not working for me!

  • Got the e-mail through from B-Card but it's for a £5 pound credit to my account if I'm one of the first 10000 before the 31/12/09.
  • Barclaycard sent me a £10 H of F voucher out of the blue last month as a gift for just having their credit cards (which I haven't used for ages).

    Problem is the nearest H of F to myself being Lakeside, meant I had to wait until last weekend before I was actually going there anyway. I spent nearly half of Saturday in the shop looking for an item to buy with the voucher. I didn't actually need anything but the only item I could find in the entire store for a tenner (or less) was a measley slim box of Lindt chocolates for £9.99 !!!!!!! EXTORTION. Be warned H of F must be one of the most expensive outlets under the sun.

    I now wish I had put down another fiver or so and got one of their chart CD's. At least in another ten years I will still have that incestment and probably be able to sell the disc for 50p or so.

    My voucher was only valid until mid January anyway, so I reckon Barclaycard (and H of F) have NOTHING to lose on this one.

    I got sent one of these and allthough it clearly states on the back that it can be used online HoF are saying instore only, I cant get to a Hof store so no good, phoned HoF and they claim it was a missprint by Barclays and not their problem... I'm waiting for a call back from a supervisor who (suprise suprise) wasn't available at the time of my call... are they ever?

    sounds a very poor deal to me. perhaps they are counting on most people not spending their voucher, or using it against a larger purchase. barclaycard certainly wont be giving house of fraser a tenner for each one. had it been a free ten pound note in the account, i might have gone for it.
