Hi,
I purchased two wii games from game.co.uk. As part of an offer they were doing I received two codes to download a mini game from the wii online shop. Neither of these codes worked or every have done.

A few days after they sent the codes I received an email saying that the codes had been double checked are were fine as they had had numerous complains about them not working.

Has anyone else had this problem

I've emailed game.co.uk since and the makers of the game and received no reply. Am I entitled to a refund to the value of the product since the codes didn't work?

This was the reason that I bought the games from game.co.uk in the first place.

Thanks for your help

So you want money for a free product?
  • If I'm entitled to it then yes.

But was it free, as money exchanged hands?

How long has it been since you emailed them? They are probably quite busy at this time of year, and could take a bit longer to reply.

Also, the fact that they've said they've double checked the codes work after receiving complaints would suggest that it's not their fault. Could be upper/lower case confusion or something?

    From Martins Consumer rights guide:
' if a free gift comes with something else, maybe a free bike when you sign up to a gym contract or a free matching toaster if you buy a particular brand of kettle, and the free item later becomes faulty, you have the same protection as if you’d paid for it. Most sellers will be aware of this but if you encounter problems stand your ground and complain.'

You should be entitled to replacement codes or the money value of the games.
