Whats with all the negs/neutrals??

I have been buying & selling on ebay now for years. Many items I have bought I have been disappointed in. I have ALWAYS contacted buyer & explained reasons etc & have had no problems sending back etc for refund & have always left pos FB.

Sometimes things have gone missing in post again I have always contacted buyer to resolve etc.

This month alone 2 of my items I have sold have gone missing in post. Have refunded both times & they have still given me NEG FB. My fault that Royal Mail havn't delivered??? I thought the rules of ebay were to contact seller to resolve etc before leaving neg FB??

Then a neutral today. I delivered to address on paypal payment on the day she paid. Later that evening she emailed to say it was wrong address and she had moved. I stated that if the jeans were returned to me I would post them to her correct address. (again not my fault!!) So they were returned to me & I posted them to her at my expense at correct address then now she gived me neutral FB!!!

I tell you I think it's more hassle than its worth sometimes!!

Ok rant over!!!:rotfl:

Compare it to my situation. I brought an item from a top status seller. It was really rubbish and poor quality and not worth even half what they sold it for. Seller refused return as it was opened. Left a negative warning people about the quality. Suddenly they are e-mailing me everyday offering a refund in return for withdrawing the negative.
  • "Buyers can now safely leave neutral/negative feedback without fear of reprisal by a seller".

So they are leaving feedback, regardless of how decent the seller has been. They can blame the seller for the failure of the Post Office, or blame the seller because they have the wrong address for item delivery, or punish the seller because they were not home when the item was delivered or basically just did not feel like leaving positive feedback.

I'm afraid there are those in life who will NEVER be fair. And those in life who are MORE than fair. I just hope that what goes around, comes around.

I share your dismay as sometimes buyers just cannot be pleased. I have one who purchased an item (brand new), used it and now said he doesn't need it anymore. He has sent it back (my postie signed for it) and has subsequently opened a PP dispute for SNAD.

I now have a brand new item (£40) which is worthless as it is used.
  • mrcol1000-thats fair enough you left neg FB as he deserved it! But sometimes as spammy says some are them are leaving it just because they feel like it! I've been nothing but fair to them I waited the 15 days and explained that the PO don't class parcel as missing until that time, kept in contact all the way through on the 15th day I refunded straight away!! & I do think that they are leaving NEG more freely now as they know they can't be given a neg back!! :( It's just unfair I think!!

  • As you have been more than fair with a buyer, try using the new option of nicely (I know it hurts) asking the buyer to alter their feedback. You can't lose as it can't get worse than a neg.
    It's worth a try.
  • i have asked them to revise politely & explained that I can't be held responsible for items lost in post (what I really wanted to say is I'm not MD of the postal service!!!!!!!!!!) & that as I had refunded straight away etc etc but to no avail!! Thing is they are fairly new to ebay & only been member for few months!!!!

It must be the season for them at the moment.

I've recently received my first ever neg from someone who bought a film from me and then didn't like it!!! Amazon removed that one thankfully.

Then on ebay, I had a buyer who I had to start a NPB dispute for, they then paid up, and left me feedback saying the book was a lot smaller than expected! There was a photo and description, so I'm not sure what else I could have done other than put the number of pages in there. I then got a message from them the other day asking me to leave them feedback as they are new to ebay and trying to build up their rating.

I thought I was actually being kinder by not leaving feedback :rotfl:

I don't think telling them its not your problem is really going to encourage people to leave a postive remark. Sadly as anyone who works in customer service will tell you the customer is normally wrong but you have to pretend that they are right through a gritted smile. Telling them its not your problem is not going to help. Telling them your very sorry and refunding them will.

I refunded them straight away & apologised for the inconvienence caused that they hadn't arrived etc etc not sure what else I could have done?? Live & learn I suppose!!!

People do worry probably a little too much about feedback. If some clown leaves you a -ve (as they do) just use your opportunity to reply and state your reasons.

Most people buying will always look at the bigger picture and history rather than feedback from a nutcase.

I would not overly worry. If you have a good history and lots of feedback to prove it then move on and keep providing your tip top service.
