Renault Scenic Owners - cost of cambelt?

Hi

I was wondering what people have paid for cambelt, Renault have just quoted me £700 for a 2001 1.8 petrol. I was expecting more around the £200 - £300 mark!

Get a quote from a non-franchised garage. It's not worth paying main dealer prices for a cambelt changed on an 8 year old Renault.

Ah right, there's a problem with some of the Renault engines in the fact that they don't use woodruff keys on the crank pulleys and use some kind of interference fit instead so you have to get the pulley replaced as well and apparently Renault really know how to charge for them.
