I ordered and paid for some uGg boots from this website on the 28/11/09, which looks genuine. I paid for them via Paypal and immediately received confirmation emails from both Paypal and the sellers website, copy invoice and tracking numbers:T.

It turns out the seller is in China, and the item was allegedly posted via EMS. You can track the item initially however it then just stops. My order has not moved since 05/12/09 and the seller has become non-contactable.

On further investigation the sellers website was only set up on the 22/11/09. I would be surprised if I’m the only one affected by this.

I have reported the this to Paypal who have started an investigation and I hope to receive a full refund.

Please use extreme caution :exclamati when placing an order on the site.

Has anyone else experienced this?

  • ALL sites with ugg in the site name (apart from the official ugg austrailia site) are fake!

Good luck with your claim though hun.

Check the main ugg thread on the grabbit board if you want help finding genuine uggs at a good price.
    TOTAL DEBTS

    NONE!!!!!
  • The police closed down around 1,200 fraudulent websites recently, many of which were offering cheap Ugg boots.

Unfortunately many people send off money to unknown companies, and don't check first. Consumer Direct may be able to help - there are many posts on MSE about these boots and websites.

i would advise a lot more than 'extreme caution'

it is a scarily professional looking site
though having to pay by paypal would have stopped any transactions from me, i only use paypal on ebay, everywhere else i expect to have a proper payments system set up with their bank

we could do with a sticky on this:

if your thinking of buying online, do a whois on the domain name, to find out who they really are

    eg. http://whois.domaintools.com/uk-uggonline.com
  • thanks edgex. I don't usually get sucked into this sort of thing but I was blinded by the offer and excellent looking website.

I subsequently looked into whois and was horrified to find the site had only been running for 6 days.

    Lessons will be learnt.

Hopefully I'll get my money back through Paypal.

Also, I thought Paypal was a good secure way to pay, but I have found there are lots of comments suggesting this is not always a good idea.

    Any Comments Welcome?

  • OMG!!

Without no further information coming via Parcelforce or EMS the boots arrived today.

I must say that they are boxed genuine uGs with the certificate, wrapping etc.

I'm still not convinced this is a legitimate site, but relieved none the less that they have arrived. :j

Or good fakes, just because they come in a box and have a certificate doesnt mean they are genuine. One of my friends from work paid £120 for her uggs, she assumed they were real. Unfortunately they were fake, thought to the untrained eye they looked genuine. Thought they are very good fakes and you would really need to know what you were looking for to tell.
