Contaminated Fuel

I believe older types of diesel engines can take quite a lot of punishment and shrug it off. But the newer common rail plants have very high pressure injection systems will don't tolerate anything other than their expected fuel!0

Hi Jess
I'd be interested to know if you've had any luck with resolving this yet.
The reason I ask is a few days before Christmas I had a similar problem. I filled up from an unleaded pump with what I thought was petrol. Indeed my receipt says unleaded, and garage CCTV shows me using an unleaded pump. There was very little petrol in my car when I refuelled, and the car started to play up on my 8 mile drive home. The next day on the way to the garage to get the car checked out, I broke down after only driving about half a mile.
Imagine my surprise to find my car was full of diesel!! This has cost me nearly £1,000 in repairs and car hire and the garage has told me to approach their insurance company, but they have yet to give me an answer as to whether they will be settling my claim voluntarily. This was also the Co-Op, and I have also been told this has happened to no-one else.
The garage who repaired my car have kept the fuel and parts, but being disabled and on benefits I just can't afford to wait for this money as I didn't have it to spend in the first place.
Any advice appreciated!!0
