This would give you an idea of some of the other expenses you could put in for consideration.
I am by no means an authority on this, know a bit more about IVAs, but you know, I now know and even your dog knows that that £811 is pie in the sky!
I understand that £25 is all that's really allowable for pets but that doesn't mean that that's what they cost! I think your £300 is way over the top but your other expenses are so thread bare that it doesn't leave a lot for miscellaneous!
Meant to ask, You have ONE daughter, right? And it's just the two of you at home, yes?Would you ask the wolves to look after the sheep?

Yup, just 2 of us at home.
£300 per month (bit more actually with the pet insurance) for a cat who is not well (medication) and a dog that needs to go out while I am at work (dogwalker)... Yes, I know it is a lot but that is the way it is.0 -

Hi Gettingready,
Just started my/our DMP with CCCS. Our first payment paid this December.
We too lived off our credit from month to month inorder to maintain the lifestyle we'd got used to without a care in the world. Then the inevitable happened.
I too am concerned how we're going to cope with budgeting now that we're in this mess coz we've never done it before.
Our budget is more favourable than I imagined if I'm honest. We've 2 Leonberger pups who're almost a year old now. One's 10 stone and the other is around 7 1/2 stone. Our insurance is £ 54. We feed them on the BARF diet which works out at about £ 60 a month instead of what could be £ 160 on dry complete. Our dog food was added or should I say included in our food budget ( that is on top of our food allowance for a family of 4 ) and, our pet insurance is clear on our SOA for our creditors to see. There hasn't as yet been any queries from our creditors so far though I suppose they may in the future.
As previously suggested go back to CCCS and explain your concerns and see if any areas could be readjusted. Once you're into your DMP you might find budgeting second time round that bit easier. Dont forget also that the CCCS are there for continued support for you.
Good luck. Karen.July £10 a day challenge £ 20.05 / £ 1550 -
Thanks Karen - my dog is about 7 stone and I feed her kind of raw too (Nature's Menu, Price Choice mince/chunks etc) and she eats about 1kg per day. My insurance is similar to yours. Also got a cat with health issues - he is 10 years old and has been with us since he was 6 weeks old kitten.
The person who helped me with my SOA would not include Pet Insurance or anythign else on that SOA - just the "pets £25" in general.
I think it is much easier to feed 4 that it is to feed 2 (people not dogs LOL) as you can buy things in bulk and they work out cheaper - soup for 4 costs probably the same as soup for 2. I cook at home, we do not have take aways or ready meals, I do not go out, I do not drink.
My only serious expense are my pets - and none of them is going to go anywhere.
I do not feel I can work with the £811 figure and the uncertainty of the time period.
I personally feel BR would be a better option for me but I need to know if there is a chance of my BR to be refused?
Will give CCCS a call when I clear my head a bit.
Thanks.0 -
CCCS Sarah - thanks for posting but I do not get the "PM user" option for you?
Get it for everyone else but not for you.
No idea why....
I do have CCCS number of course but would like someone to have a look at my file there and let me know if you could help me with BR, would it be accepted and what the SOA for BR could be?
Obviously I do not want to put my ref number on a public forum - but can not PM you....0 -
Leonberger - wawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, had to look it up, never heard of those....
What a georgeous looking dogs, you are so lucky Karen

Charco - I do not think it was CCCS that told me I can not go BR
- it was lotssssssssssssssss of people on the BR board.
I have not spoken to CCCS about going BR - I have given them my figures (salary, expenses) and based on that they calculated and proposed a DMP with that unfortunate £811 surplus.
The amount AND the lenght of the DMP combined means that this is a very bad option, isn's it?0 -
One last thing i meant to say to you,
If you're working a long hard day and are coming home to a house with you just you and your daughter, it's not unreasonabale that you'd want a dog around perhaps to feel more secure. An Alsatian is a big dog and you're not going to be able to walk it as much as you should AND hold down a fulltime job.
You're a decent earner and I would reckon it would be a reasonable argument that the £200 dog walker cost should be allowable (even in a bankruptcy). To give your dog as much exercise as he needs without a dog walker you'd need to cut down on your hours at work which
1. Might not be an option and
2. Would obviously affect your take home pay anyway!
Even if the OR knocked this back in your bankruptcy you could appeal it. Or perhaps you OR would simply accept it or offer to go 50/50 with you. (worst case scenario you'd just have to try to afford it out of your 30% of your Disposable Income!)Would you ask the wolves to look after the sheep?
