So? The question was what is bad about house prices. So I answered that question as it applied to me.0

What are your expectations?i've got a nephew who is in the same position, but scoffs at the idea of buying a terrace to which he could afford.
Ideally wants a 3 bed semi just out of reach.Official MR B fan club,dont go............................0 -
Meh, I'm not going into it again on these forums. Can't be arsed mate.
I would love to be able to buy a 2 bed terraced, never get the mortgage though. Instead we are renting a 3 bed house for what we would pay on the mortgage for a 2 bed. Sensible system eh?
I suppose you're one of those oldies who doesn't actually know what it is like trying to buy now, but tells us young 'uns to stop moaning, right?0 -
Nah far from, aint that old either, everyone gotta start somewhere. But in the case of my nephew,he moans but can well afford to get a property.
Its never been easy but gets easier over time.Official MR B fan club, dont go............................0 -
For me, it has got harder. Personal circumstances really but having a baby means that we now have a lower household income than we did last year.
Oh well, life goes on and hopefully my income will increase with time.0 -

I used to live up north. I could rent a 4 bed detached for what I am paying down here.0

People complain about high multiple mortgages but as you say your finding the rent so presumably you could find the mortgage repayments. The trouble is unless you can get social housing rents are high too.0 -

There you go then, you chose having kids to having property. Life is all about choices."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -

Can you not see how silly the sentiment in this post is?
This isn't a pop at you at all. It's a pop at the whole idea of having kids = can't have a home, even though you go out to work every day to earn your way through life.
It's crazy. It's depressing. And it's wrong.
Chris obviously isn't a chav, popping babies out. Obviously isn't in the minimum wage factory line job. Just a normal person carrying out a normal life.0
