Non delivery of gift card

My wife ordered online from Next website a £100 gift card, on the 8 December.
She paid extra postage for signed delivery which they recommended. They stated 3- 4 days delivery. It is now the 15 of December, and it has not yet arrived.
She phoned them twice, only to be told that it is her responsibility to chase it up with the Post Office. Is this correct? Surely under the Distance Selling Act the responsibility lies with Next? They have allreay charged her for the card on her latest statement, for something she has not yet received.
Can she refuse to pay for this item as she has not recieved it?
Surely all Next has to do is cancel the gift card so it cannot be used, and then send out a replacement?
Any advice greatlfully received.
many thanks.
Chris.

What is the Distance Selling Act ?
It's what people mention when they know the real name of the law covering such sales but prefer people to mention that rather than give them advice. It's a kind of game, see?
OP: I would be inclined to say Next should chase it up. But it may be easier if you contact the Post Office. If Next gave you a tracking number (I hope they did if they want you to follow it up), you can type it in here to see what happened to it - maybe it was signed for by someone else who has forgotten to tell you. Bear in mind 3-4 days could be delayed by one or two and it may have only got delivered today and signed for by a neighbour (may even come tomorrow)
EDIT: Wait, am I missing something, Gordikin? Have I just spent five minutes typing that out for no reason?Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

A 1 post wonder I suspect, 8/12 order in the evening perhaps, making it the 9th +3-4 + 2 for the weekend making it the 15th...just?0 -
up to next to chase it. Although you could contact your local delivery office to see if it's there waiting for you, be patient though, although there are extra posties on the streets, there is no extras in the callers offices4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

It's up to the sender to chase up Royal Mail for any lost deliveries as it is only the seller who can claim compensation for lost items from them.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”
